Nick Oza Exhibition 2026
Join us for an evening of art, music, food and community to celebrate the photography that brings us together.
Be Seen is a bilingual traveling outdoor exhibition spanning more than 15 years of Nick Oza’s photography documenting migration, the borderlands, the Southwest, and the people and neighborhoods of Arizona. By bringing his visual legacy into public spaces, we invite audiences to explore one central question: How does it feel to be seen?
Nick was a two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist who worked at The Arizona Republic, where he became known for deeply human documentary photography rooted in trust and relationships. He died at age 57 from injuries sustained in a tragic car accident in 2021.
The opening reception will feature live music by De Cajón Band and DJ Cervantes, along with guest speakers who will share anecdotes of Nick Oza’s lasting legacy in the community.

The exhibition will be on display at the Maryvale Community Center from November 5–10 and will then travel to various locations across Phoenix.
Vernos es una exposición bilingüe, itinerante y al aire libre que reúne más de 15 años de la fotografía de Nick Oza documentando la migración, la frontera, el suroeste y las personas y vecindarios de Arizona. Al llevar su legado visual a los espacios públicos, invitamos a las personas a explorar una pregunta central: ¿Cómo se siente ser visto?
Nick fue un fotoperiodista ganador de dos premios Pulitzer que trabajó en The Arizona Republic, donde se destacó por una fotografía documental profundamente humana, basada en la confianza y las relaciones. Murió a los 57 años a causa de las heridas sufridas en un trágico accidente automovilístico en 2021.
